You’re across the terms ‘Neurodiversity’ ‘Neurodivergent’ and you know a bit about what Neurodiversity Affirming means. But it can be a whole other big step putting your great intentions into practice and feeling confident that your therapy supports, beliefs and practices are aligned with the Neurodiversity Affirming movement. This webinar is for families, carers and professionals who support Neurodivergent people.
Learning Outcomes
In this 1.5-hour webinar, you’ll start to reflect, learn, un-learn and make plans for change, on these topics and more:
- Brief history and outline of the Neurodiversity Movement
- Basic principles of Neurodiversity Affirming Practice
- Important terminology and changes in language
- Ableism and internalised ableism in supporting neurodivergent people
- Overview of Neurodiversity Affirming approach to social supports (and what's 'out' for social skills)
- Overview of behaviourism, ABA and affirming approaches for supporting behaviour
- Reflect on your learning: Apply new ideas, changes, & plans to shift practices
